The short answer is “Everything”!
This Thanksgiving, I decided to share with you some things that I have learned about gratitude. Each of them applies both to your life and to your business — mainly because everything you do in your business is a part of your life — so everything in your business applies to your life. There is no such thing as “This is just business”.
Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. – W.A. Ward
Share with others when you are grateful for something they’ve done — better, yet, when you are grateful simply that they ARE. When we keep gratitude a secret under wraps, we are holding back something that could change someone’s life — especially your own — if it is expressed.
Give thanks for a little and you will find a lot. – The Hausa of Nigeria
Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. -Oprah Winfrey
Have you ever noticed that when you focus on all the wonderful things in your life, that you begin to notice even more of them — maybe even wonderful things in the world around you, too? It sort of feels like spring when it gets warm, and I discover the first crocus and then more and more of them show up — almost overnight — kind of like magic. I love to keep checking for new ones that have appeared since the last time I looked. And, when I focus on things that are less than what I’d like, I begin to notice even more of those, too. Yuck!!! I sure feel better — and have happier days — when I remember to focus only on the lovely (notice how that word contains “Love”?) things in my life and the world.
I saw someone share the video below on Facebook. I know nothing about the program or even the young man. What I do know is that I was moved to tears of joy listening to and watching him sing. Listening to his story reminded me, yet again, how much I have. Yes, there are things I’d like to change in my life… Yes, there are things I’d like to change in the US… And, let us please remember all that is wonderful and beautiful in this world, so that when we go about changing things, we end up with something better than where we are now. If we spend so much of our time focused on how terrible our world is and everything that is wrong with it, we can never open our minds to a solution. Watching this video reminded me to keep my mind open, my eyes peeled and my thoughts focused on “what can be better than this?” and “what does a Wonderful World actually look like?”.
To each and every one of you that read this…
May the sun bring you new energy by day,
may the moon softly restore you by night,
may the rain wash away your worries,
may the breeze blow new strength into your being.
May you walk through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life.
